Polyethylene wax (PE wax) is a low molecular weight polyethylene polymer that is solid at room temperature and has a wax-like texture. It is produced by polymerizing ethylene or breaking down high molecular weight polyethylene through thermal or mechanical processes. Due to its excellent hardness, lubricity, and heat resistance, polyethylene wax is widely used across various industries.
Ranges from 100°C to 140°C, depending on the grade.
Resistant to heat, chemicals, and wear.
Excellent slip and anti-friction properties.
More rigid compared to other waxes.
Mixes well with other resins, plastics, and waxes.
Suitable for applications in food and personal care.
Harder and has a higher melting point.
Softer and more flexible.
Contains oxygen functional groups, offering improved compatibility with polar materials like paints and coatings.
Acts as a lubricant and dispersing agent during plastic extrusion and molding processes.
Enhances the flow of polymers like PVC and improves processing efficiency.
Used in powder coatings and liquid paints to improve scratch resistance, gloss, and durability.
Prevents pigment settling in paints.
Improves the gloss, slip, and abrasion resistance of inks used in packaging and labels.
Enhances the flexibility, adhesion, and thermal stability of adhesives like hot melts.
Used in packaging, woodworking, and automotive applications.
Acts as a processing aid to improve dispersion of fillers and reduces friction during rubber production.
Used in textile treatments to improve softness and water repellency.
Serves as a carrier for pigments and additives in masterbatch production.
Sometimes blended with other waxes to improve hardness, burn time, and gloss.
Advantages of Polyethylene Wax:
•Improves processing and performance in various applications.
•Chemically stable and highly resistant to degradation.
•Can be tailored to specific requirements by altering its molecular weight or oxidation level.
Polyethylene wax is widely used for its versatility and performance-enhancing properties, making it essential in industries like plastics, coatings, and adhesives.
